Now 30% of our city councilmen look crooked.

Two accused of vote selling, and number three admits he stuck $16,600 in his pocket when he shouldn't have.

Pocket-stuffer David Garcia is a smarmy weasel who should be in jail, but he cut a deal. If he throws the right amount of money at his problem, the law will call it even.

City council should evict Garcia quickly. The rule says if he’s guilty of “moral turpitude” he can be tossed out on his keister.

Webster’s equates turpitude with depravity. Black's Law Dictionary defines “moral turpitude” as “behavior that gravely violates ... accepted moral standards of the community...”

Illegally stuffing $16,600 in your pocket is NOT an accepted moral standard in this community— except among smarmy weasels.

One more definition: what I call him— smarmy. Webster’s 1 “a smug, ingratiating, or false earnestness.” Webster’s 2 “of low sleazy taste or quality.”

My opinion is that Councilman Garcia is a low, sleazy, morally depraved weasel. No room for his council colleagues to be wishywashy here: he needs to be expelled right away.
