Almost Time for War

It's almost time for war.

How do we feel about it? About 6 in 10 Americans back an attack, and about 4 in 10 oppose. That hasn't noticeably changed in several weeks. About 8 in 10 of us believe Iraq has broken the U.N. rules.

Here's something you already know from listening to the KTSA talk shows. Support for war is significantly higher among people who identify with the religious right. A Gallup News Service story reports that "Americans who indicate that religion is not very important in their daily lives are the least likely to support war with Iraq."

Who's winning the terrorism war? 37% say the U.S., 17% say the terrorists, and 43% say no one is winning.

Today we step up our pre-war coverage on KTSA; CBS and military unit reports, weather reports from Baghdad and Kuwait, and other informational features.

I know you join me in thanking our military forces and their families for what they do. We appreciate you and wish you the very best. You have our complete support.

It's almost time for war.
