Posers and Posturers

Y'ever watch a 4- or 5-year-old kid in a department store? While his parents are busy shopping, the kid is oblivious to everything-- except the mirror. He twists and looks at himself, turns and looks, makes a face and looks.

When that kid is a teenager, he or she spends more time studying the reflection. How does my smile look from this angle? What if I held my shoulders square like this?

People figure out a posture that looks good to them, then they show it to the world, for one and all to admire.

That's what the politicians are doing now about the college-student boxcutter story--like four-year-olds in front of a mirror, posturing for their audience of voters.

How many politicians so far are shocked! shocked!!! to discover there are holes in airport security? How many posturing, posing politicians promise to hold hearings, and instigate investigations?

Phoneys, one and all. As if they had NO idea whatsoEVER that boxcutters and what-all could routinely be snuck into any airport, anywhere, any time. Phoneys.
