Respecting Vets, Past and Future

Politicians in Washington make big patriotic speeches and, to their credit, occasionally do something patriotic, too. Now would be another excellent occasion.

Several bills dealing with military veterans are before national lawmakers now— including increased VA healthcare, disability pay, and death benefits.

If we have $87 billion to spend in Iraq, and don't get me started on that, then we should have a few billion for our own people at home.

America can't let our veterans and future veterans feel that our country isn't 100 percent behind them. Congress needs to support and respect vets, by passing these pending laws that keep promises that Uncle Sam either made, or should have.

We'll see whether the fancy speeches are followed by actions. Then we'll know who does and doesn't support the military.
