Fact-Checking Politics

A couple of well-known organizations are offering themselves as fact checkers during the current campaigns.

The Annenberg Public Policy Center's website is FactCheck.org. The site is headed with the [Daniel Patrick Moynihan] phrase, "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts."

This morning, FactCheck.org reports include “What Bush Left Unsaid in the State of the Union Address”.

Another fact-checking website is run by the Columbia Journalism Review. It is CampaignDesk.org. Its main goal is to examine political reporting by various media, and to critique the coverage. The site has some excellent coverage of the coverage, and it’s updated several times per day.

CampaignDesk.org and FactCheck.org ought to be helpful as the campaigns plod predictably into deeper mud.
