City Hall is about to decide whether to risk a game of Term Limit Chicken.

Today a committee will try to decide what you will vote on next May. There will be something about letting the mayor and council members serve longer and make some real money.

Here's where the game of chicken comes in.

They know the voters might – just might – be in a mood to loosen up on term limits and pay.

But if there's also something in there about letting new rules apply to those who are in office now, look out. On the one hand, some officials really want any new rules to apply to them, even though they were elected under the current rules. On the other hand, trying to make things better for themselves personally, may turn voters off to the point that they would vote no on the whole setup.

It'd be a risky gamble. It'll be interesting to see whether the mayor and city council members decide to play Term Limit Chicken.
