Moron's Car Conspiracy

If you had your choice between a powerful car that gets 20 miles per gallon, and the same exact powerful car, at the same price, getting 100 miles per gallon, which would you choose? Yeah, me too.

Another way to express roughly the same question: if you had a choice of regular gas at $5 per gallon, or the exact same gas at $1 a gallon, which would you buy? Yep.

The point is, all things being equal, people will go for the better deal.

Say you're general Motors. You have one car design that gets 20mpg, and the same design with a different engine than gets 100, same price. You know people are gonna stampede for that 100 mile per gallon car. You'd rush that baby into your showrooms at lightning speed and kill your competitors. Everyone would want a powerful, high-mileage car.

From time to time, we hear about someone inventing a high-mileage, non polluting engine that could revolutiuonize the auto industry. But, the inventor says, the big car companies are in a conspiracy to cover it up or kill it.

That coverup conspiracy make any sense at all? Of course not. Except to the occasional moron.
