Politicians have started talking about maybe bringing back the military draft.
There are plenty of reasons why, and plenty why not.
If they do start the draft again though, everyone's name ought to have to go into the fishbowl. No exemptions for people in school. No exceptions for rich kids. No exemptions for the sons of politicians.
If politicians' kids were drafted into the military I suspect that Uncle Sam would be involved in many fewer wars.
And let me mention politicians' daughters, too. What do you think it'd do to the chances for us invading another country if the Bush girls were drafted?
And no running off to Canada. If someone did, we should go get 'em and administer their GI haircut before sundown.
If we're gonna have a draft, let's not have it like the tax laws, where a lot of people with political clout can weasel out of doing their share.
