Saving Fallujah

What? In order to find a handful of killers and body-mutilators, the US may evacuate of the entire civilian population of Fallujah?

Force several hundred thousand people out of their own town?

That was the scheme being floated as a trial balloon yesterday: tell the families of Fallujah that if they don't leave, we will consider them enemy combatants, and will go after them, one and all. Can you imagine the repercussions?

Yes, we have to find the people who killed our hired guns— our civilian contractor bodyguards. But there must be a better way.

Will we win one mind or one heart by turning Fallujah into a ghost town? Are we about to create hundreds of thousands more refugees, on top of the 70-thousand who have already run away from Fallujah?

There must be a better way.
