Cafe Inspections I'd like to be able to look up restaurant health inspections on the internet. Our city inspectors file reports, but they're just stacks of paper downtown, and normal people don't have the time to go look.
Houston is thinking of putting cafe inspections online. Dallas already does. In San Antonio, the cost would be like a grain of sand on the beach, compared to other spending by City Hall. I would look up the kitchen reports on my pizza place, my drive-in, my ribs place, my Mexican food place I'd look 'em all up. Yesterday I put my Ten-Foot Poll on the internet and asked this question: "Should San Antonio computerize restaurant health inspections and put them online?" The vote was 95 percent yes. Ninety-five percent! City Hall is making up the new annual budget right now. I wish they'd aim a little money at our health inspectors. The poor inspectors don't even have computers yet. We need to modernize, and we should put every restaurant inspection on the internet. Brad Messer, commentary, KTSA.
