Driving Friendly The way we drive surprises tourists, and people who move to Texas. I don't mean our women who can steer with their knees and brush stuff onto their eyelashes while doing 85 on the freeway. That is impressive, but it's pretty much a Houston thing. I'm referring the fact that so many San Antonio drivers actually Drive Friendly, as the highway signs used to urge. This has to be one of the few places where one driver will wave at another one to let him go first, or pull into a street from a driveway. People from elsewhere aren't used to that at all, and it surprises them. Sometimes it rubs off on 'em, and they take up the Drive Friendly tradition. It doesn't happen all the time, or even most of the time, but when it does it makes things more pleasant for everyone, doesn't it. Brad Messer, commentary, KTSA.
