Swift Boat Brad

I am seeing a reverse Forrest Gump effect in the presidential campaign.

In the movie, Forrest Gump just happened to be everywhere at the right time. Something big happened, he was there.

Most of these Swift Boat storytellers are just the opposite. There are a lot of former Vietnam swift boat vets telling first-hand John Kerry stories. But exactly the opposite of Forrest Gump, they weren't there.

Oh, some of them were there on another day. Some were close to there. But they weren't there.

This is opening entire new areas: the loose requirement appears to be that you didn't have to actually be there to have a story.

I am beginning to suspect that perhaps I, too, have a swift boat story. I have never been in a swift boat, and hadn't even heard the term until recently. No matter.

Give me a little while to think. My own swift boat story seems to be gradually coming back to to be. Maybe hypnosis will bring it out.
