Stripper Tax II

Yesterday morning my commentary - on San Antonio's proposal to tax strip clubs and strippers - said I expected the Human Display Tax scheme to be popular, although personally I think it will be government intrusion gone wild.

I think it's the kind of power-mad political scheme that makes people very happy with term limits.

I didn't expect many of you to agree with me.

Wrong again.

In my internet poll yesterday I asked whether you think the stripper fee "is government gone tax crazy and power mad" or "an idea whose time has come." What a surprise. 87 percent of voters said the city is tax crazy and power mad.

Eighty-seven percent! You could have knocked me over with a tassel.

Note: The story I read said the stripper fee was $375. That's wrong. The club fee would be 375 and the stripper fee would be $50 a year.
