![]() Brad Messer Commentary KTSA Monday, September 13, 2004 I'll tell you what would be a tourist attraction. A cruise ship trip to see the Great Track in the Gulf of Mexico. You never heard of the Great Track?
It's the road, the trail, the groove, the Gulf of Mexico freeway that hurricanes travel on. I heard TV weather people all weekend talking about The Track, as if the hurricane pretty much has to stick to it. Chillens, there ain't no Great Track. Hurricanes go where they feel like. You can draw the coolest color chart of where one might go, and be oh-so-very wrong. The terrible Ivan is at the gate to the Gulf of Mexico this morning. Don't bet your paycheck it's on a track it can't jump. Footnote. Two of the three San Antonio TV weathermen last night erroneously reported Ivan's maximum sustained winds, as the maximum winds, period. If the local TV weather people ever have to report on a hurricane hitting Texas, I hope they will have learned the basics by then. Who knows maybe they'd better hurry. Brad Messer commentary KTSA.
