![]() Brad Messer Commentary KTSA Friday, September 17, 2004 There was an ugly event yesterday at a John Edwards campaign stop in West Virginia. The Kerry-Edwards campaign invited people to attend a brief Edwards appearance at the airport in Huntington. Mostly Democrats showed up.
Then there was Phil Parlock, Republican. He took his 3-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son, and several Bush-Cheney signs. Said he wanted to support the president. The Parlock family was set upon by Democrat goons who grabbed the Bush signs and tore up at least one of them, frightening 3-year-old Sophia, who started crying. An Associated Press photographer caught her, sitting on her dad's shoulders, in tears. The shot has become one of the most emailed photos on the internet. The sign-tearing incident is another ugly illustration of a sad truth: many Americans do not understand, nor tolerate, free speech and expression by anyone whose views are different. Grabbing signs and frightening a 3-year-old girl what an uncivil and ignorant bunch of idiots. Brad Messer commentary KTSA.
