TV Promos

Some of the promotional spots on TV promise the moon. CNN.com promo'd today's American Morning program by promising to reveal whether "there is any way to stop" the escalating violence in Iraq.

Imagine that. The Commander In Chief doesn't know whether "there is any way to stop" the escalating violence in Iraq— but apparently someone in Programming at CNN does. And this morning they were gonna tell the whole entire world!

I hope President Bush and Defense Secretary Rumsfeld tuned in and found out what's going to happen in Iraq. This could save everyone a lot of time.

Another CNN promo says its series Promises, Promises is going to "take a look at what the candidates promise to do on various issues and whether those promises are realistic."

Thank you CNN! Takes all the work out of it for us, doesn't it. CNN will separate the real from the unreal in American politics!

I believe CNN ought to concentrate on separating the real from the unreal in their own overblown promos.
