SymPHONY

Here's how to spell symphony: s-y-m phony.

It was pretty phoney of the symphony to refuse to play at last weekend's music festival here because it was too hot. What was it outside— 90? Did it surprise the sym-phony that it can hit 90 degrees in late Summer in South Texas. Did they schedule that outdoor concert hoping a magic fairy would cool the city to 75 for that one special afternoon?

Our City Council is so gaga over the symphony that it has just taken money from homeowner taxes and handed the orchestra $400-thousand. The funding breakdown is a real story: 320-thousand from your property taxes, plus 80-thousand from your tax money set aside in the Aviation Fund.

The Aviation Fund! Next time a councilman or the mayor says he'd love to do this or do that but there's no money, remind 'em they found 80 grand for the sym-phony in the Aviation Fund.
