Veep Debate Truth

I will tell you the raw truth. 63 minutes into the Bush-Kerry debate, at 9:03 p.m., I realized I had stopped paying attention. I'd started clicking around on the internet. Of course I promptly straightened up and watched the rest of it like a good boy.

Last night during Cheney-Edwards I found myself wandering out into a KTSA hallway at 8:47.

The Veep debate lost my attention 16 minutes sooner.

Of course, being a professional, I immediately rededicated myself to the struggle and tuned back in and tried to listen attentively.

During both debates there were times when I realized that I had no idea what they had said for the past several sentences.

Cheney would say something, and my mind would start researching what he had said before about that, and I'd miss who-knows-how-much of what he uttered after that. When Edwards spoke I got sidetracked thinking about his accent, and about how you used to be able to tell where in Texas someone was from: there was a Houston accent, Dallas, Midland accent...

There I go again. I must do better at staying focused on these debates.
