Counting Votes

You hear a lot of scarey stuff about the integrity of the vote this time. Voter registrations being shredded, phony multiple registrations, voting systems crashing during testing, a whole lot of stuff.

And of course the polls have Bush-Kerry razor close. Any state that has a Florida situation will attract a planeful of lawyers. People won't get to vote for some reason or other, they'll all have lawyers, too.

Colorado is an interesting potential quicksand pit. At the same time they're voting for president, they'll be voting on whether to divide their electoral votes. If that result impacts the presidential race, you can bet your chads that someone will rush to court and try to freeze the whole national election.

It's no sure thing that we'll know late election night who has taken home the bacon.

Who knows. This time, even Iraq might have fewer election headaches.
