Yard Sign Jerks

People are emailing me yard sign stories. I put up a Kerry sign, someone stole it. My Bush sign was ripped up— twice.

Yard sign jerks are really out in numbers this election, aren't they. Somewhere along the line they got patriotism mixed up with vandalism. They're involved in the political process, probably consider themselves VERY good Americans, but they are vandals.

The abuse of yard signs is an abuse of free expression, of democratic discourse, of tolerating other people's ideas. It is the evil opposite of some of the precious principles for which America stands.

If you tear up political yard signs, I'll bet you wouldn't want to get caught doing it... having your name in the news. You know you're doing wrong. Why do you? Did you never really grow up?
